Reflection

The ongoing struggle for me continues to be the bright whites and the glaring sunshine of the Middle East! I ventured out during the morning to ensure a few shadows. In some respects, I realized living in Amman was somewhat like cheating for this assignment as the architecture and design of the city are filled with lines and square buildings and rectangular bricks. I tried to challenge myself by really finding the most perfect representative for each photo assignment, as it would have been easy to capture the horizon or leading lines or framing in almost any photograph. Of course, not everything is worth capturing.

I did find the photographs fill the frame and change your viewpoint to be the most challenging, mainly because of the content and finding something that would yield an interesting composition. Although, I also found this to be a great exercise because it really forced me to look at objects in the context of how to change how they normally appear. Still, I somewhat regret choosing the location that I did as I would have liked to have focused on a more intriguing subject matter.

In terms of the technical, I carried with me the Sunny-16 cheatsheet and ended up with an F-stop that remained consistent throughout the shooting. I am not sure if I should have done a better job of changing my camera settings, but I did find the combination to achieve what I was hoping to capture. I do think when it comes to the technical I need to be practicing almost daily, outside of class assignments, as this is definitely where I struggle the most.
